Architectura et amicitia
Wendingen means "inversions". This was a megazine founded in 1918 in Holland, by a small group of architects who were part of the association Architectura et amicitia. The magazine was itself a work of art, hand made, with japanese-style book binding, hand-made graphics. It had an incredible care for the aesthetics of the graphics and the fonts. It's astonishing how they melted the older "art-nouveau" style, and the newest revolutionary modernist attitude (that was the time of De Stijl magazine also). (for more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wendingen - http://www.zuidelijkewandelweg.nl/architectuur/wendingen.htm -http://www.flickr.com/photos/jansluijter/sets/72157619819296508/ ). I scanned these dust-covers from a Franco Maria Ricci book.

Deco' versus Modernism

Concrete

Concrete and neon lights are two of my favorite materials (yes, light is a material). I love the way formworks shape the concrete mass with the lines of wood planks. The roughness of the surface is something I find comforting and familiar.
Neon light makes shadows visible. It's the light that illuminates the shadows more than the illuminated parts.
